Wanna Join?

To Prospective students

Thank you for your interest in the CELL lab at DGIST.

On this page, you’ll find an overview of the qualities we seek in potential lab members, as well as a guide to the next steps in the application process.

What We Are Looking For?

  • Interest in Generative AI and Emerging Technologies
We are particularly interested in students who have a keen interest in the latest trends in Generative AI, including, but not limited, to transformer models, diffusion models, and advanced frameworks like Mamba. If you are a candidate who not only has a theoretical understanding of these models and frameworks but who is also eager to apply them in practical, groundbreaking research, you’ll find ample opportunities in our lab to turn your knowledge into cutting-edge research.
  • Proficiency and Passion for Programming
Our lab seeks true coding enthusiasts.
Candidates should have a strong foundation in programming and be enthusiastic about writing clean, well-documented code. You should be comfortable with not only documenting your own work but also adapting and improving the code of others. This includes writing comprehensive READMEs, anticipating the needs of future users, and ensuring that your code and datasets are easily accessible and reusable by other researchers. Proficiency in using VIM is a plus! Though experience with other development environments is equally valued.
  • Aspiration to Develop Next-Generation Computer Systems
Got big ideas about where computer systems are headed? So do we.
We are looking for individuals with a vision for creating the next wave of generative computer systems. If you are driven by the challenge of pioneering new technologies and systems that will shape the future, our lab provides the ideal setting for your research ambitions.

See the “Research” page for details on the research interests.

How To Contact Us

Students who are interested in the CELL lab are urged to contact Professor Kim via email at yeseongkim(AT)dgist.ac.kr.
Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to meet with Professor Kim either online or in person. During this meeting, your foundational knowledge will be assessed, and you will be provided with an overview of the lab’s research and activities.

Other Information

To work in the CELL lab, students are expected to have completed courses in Data Structures, System Programming, Operating Systems, Introduction to Deep Learning, and Computer Algorithms and Architecture. Additionally, coursework in Linear Algebra and Probability and Statistics is highly recommended, as these subjects will further support your research and development within the lab.

We strongly encourage interested students to contact us at their earliest convenience.
